Recording Penalties and Endorsements

Refer to the PENALTY SUMMARY section at right :-

PNR - 414555

A competitor is found to be in breach of rule J1.2 for contacting another kart on a Club Day. They have just received their Tier 2 licence so are relatively new to the sport but their style of driving has been noticed to be that of contacting karts repeatedly into corners. The Stewards Panel issue a five place relegation and an endorsement as follows :-

a)Rule number – Rule J1.2

b)Penalty – Exclude from race

c)Period of Endorsement - 6 months

This is written in the log book as shown in the example at right.

The relegation first based on the PNR and outcome which is applied on the day.

Then the Endorsement Rule J1.2 penalty of Exclude from Race for a period of 6 months.

The effect of this is that if the competitor is found guilty of a breach of rule J1.2 for whatever reason at any time in the next 6 months (from the date of the original penalty), they will automatically have the endorsement imposed – which is an exclusion for the race.

PNR - 414556

A reasonably new competitor is found to be in breach of rule J1.5 - failure to remove kart to a safe area - during a Club Day. The Stewards Panel issue a reprimand and no further endorsement.

This is written in the log book as shown in the example at right.

PNR - 414557

A competitor is found to be in breach of rule J1.3 - Dangerous Driving - during a round of the Rotax Max Challenge.

The Stewards Panel issue a penalty of exclusion from the heat (which is applied on the day) and an endorsement of exclusion from event for 4 months.

The effect of this is that if the competitor is found guilty of a breach of rule J1.3 for whatever reason at any time in the next 4 months (from the date of the original penalty), they will automatically have the endorsement imposed – which is an exclusion from event.

This is written in the log book as shown in the example at right.

PNR - 414558

A competitor is found to be in breach of rule G1.9 - unacceptable behaviour - during the Island Championships.

The Stewards Panel issue a penalty of a $250 fine and an endorsement of exclusion from event for 12 months.

The effect of this is that if the competitor is found guilty of a breach of rule G1.9 for whatever reason at any time in the next 12 months (from the date of the original penalty), they will automatically have the endorsement imposed – which is an exclusion from the event.

This is written in the log book as shown in the example at right.

PNR - 414559

A competitor is found to be in breach of rule H1.6 - disregarding yellow flag - during a Round of Top Half. The Stewards Panel issue a penalty of Excluded from Pre Final and no further endorsement.

This is written in the log book as shown in the example at right.

The important thing to also note in all of the above examples is that the date, PNR number, Stewards stamp and signature must also be entered in all cases.

Endorsements can run all the way up to licence suspension but you would be having serious on track issues with a competitor if you needed to nominate a suspension.

Endorsements in licences have been very rarely used in the past but they are a very valuable tool and we would encourage you to fully understand them (especially their execution) and to use endorsements in appropriate circumstances.  Three (3) months is the minimum period for an endorsement with a twelve (12) months maximum.

Endorsements can have a calming effect on some repeat offenders.
