Flags and Specifications

H1.16 FLAGS:The required number of flags for the size of the circuit must be supplied by the promoting organisation. (This includes Race Official flags.) Flags are to be maintained to a high standard, kept clean and in good repair. Flags are a part of the Track Rating Criteria.

H1.18 Virtual Safety Kart (VSK)
H1.18.1 The Virtual Safety Kart period may only be used at venues with a full flag point lights system, for any event.

H1.18.2 A Virtual Safety Kart period may be called by the Race Director only at any time. This will neutralise the race, with all flag point lights displaying flashing interchanging red and yellow lights.

H1.18.3 When a Virtual Safety Kart period is implemented, all karts must immediately.

• Cease racing and reduce speed to a pace consistent with facing the starter.

• Use a hand signal to further alert following karts.

• Karts may safely increase speed with the goal of rejoining the field of karts.

• All drivers must circulate in a single file behind the lead kart, with no more than two kart lengths between each kart.

• Overtaking is strictly forbidden.

Exception: Karts involved in any incident, or karts clearly reducing speed due to a mechanical problem may be passed safely by the field.

H1.18.4 It is the responsibility of the leading kart to dictate the pace of circulation and reduce any gaps in the field of karts immediately. The driver must always maintain a consistent speed.

H1.18.5 Lapped karts must remain in the same position as when the Virtual Safety Kart period was called.

H1.18.5 Once the field has reduced speed and the field has closed any gaps, drivers are permitted to weave on the straights to keep tyres warm. Weaving must stop once the flag point lights have gone out.

H1.18.6 To indicate the end of the Virtual Safety Kart period, all flag point lights will be turned off simultaneously ahead of the blue slow down line. Racing will resume this lap.

H1.18.7 All drivers must remain in single file in close formation and be ready to face the starter. Approaching the start, drivers must straddle the centre two lines or be in the middle tram lane.

H1.18.8 The Pole Kart may accelerate at any time after entering the Start Zone (indicated by the yellow line). The rest of the field may accelerate after the Pole Kart has accelerated within the Start Zone, but NO kart may move out of formation or pass until the Start Signal is given.

H1.18.9 Each lap completed under the VSK will be counted as a race lap. It is permitted for the race to finish under a VSK period.
